What apartment living in the city lacks most is an outdoor space one can claim. By stepping the mass back we gave each flat its own garden or terrace.

The stepping is not only formal: it keeps the upper floors from shading the lower ones and visually separates each terrace from its neighbour.

A single material was used on the facade — locally produced, hand-pressed brick, whose surface darkens with age and lets the building settle into the street.
